Analyst Update: Forward Guidance, Financial Results, and Dividend Declaration

U.S. stocks advanced higher on Friday, April 24, 2015, led by strong first quarter results of major technology heavyweights. The NASDAQ Composite advanced 0.71%, to close at 5,092.09; the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.12%, to finish the day at 18,080.14, and the S&P 500 finished at 2,117.69, up 0.23%. European stocks recovered on Friday, following a disappointing run on previous trading session. Germany's DAX 30 rose 0.74%; France's CAC 40 advanced 0.44%, and London's FTSE 100 gained 0.24% on Friday. Meanwhile, major Asian stock markets fell on Friday as China's securities regulator announced to accelerate approval of initial public offerings in a seeming effort to cool the red hot market. The Shanghai Composite and Japan's Nikkei both closed lower on Friday.
SandRidge Energy (SandRidge), in a press note on April 7, 2015, announced that it will release its 2015 first quarter shareholder update and financial results after the close of trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. The company plans to host a conference call to discuss these results on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 8:00am CDT.
Halliburton Company (Halliburton) announced its Q1 2015 results on April 20, 2015. Total revenue in Q1 2015 was $7.1 billion, down 4% YoY, but higher than analysts' estimates of $7.03 billion, mainly reflecting weaker energy prices. The Company reported an income from continuing operations, after excluding special items, of $418 million or $0.49 per diluted share for Q1 2015, as compared to income of $623 million, or $0.73 per diluted share in the same period last year.
Nabors Industries (Nabors) reported its financial results for Q1 2015 on April 21, 2015. Its revenue decreased by 20.2% YoY to $1.42 billion in Q1, but was higher than analysts' expectation of $1.36 billion. Net income from continuing operations for Q1 was $124.4 million or $0.43 per diluted share.
Alcoa Inc (Alcoa) reported strong Q1 2015 results on April 8, 2015. Total revenues rose 7% YoY to $5.8 billion in Q1, supported by organic growth, driven by strong automotive and aerospace volume. Including $168 million of special items that were primarily restructuring-related charges, the Company's net income increased to $195 million in Q1, or $0.14 per share, while excluding special items, net income more than tripled from a year ago to $363 million, or $0.28 per share.
Talisman Energy (Talisman), on April 8, 2015, announced that the Company has declared a dividend on its common shares of $0.1125 per share. The dividend will be paid on April 29, 2015 to shareholders of record at the close of business on April 20, 2015.
