En Vogue to Headline 16th Annual Stonewall Street Festival and Parade in Wilton Manors
WILTON MANORS, Fla., May 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wilton Manors Entertainment Group is excited to announce that En Vogue will be the headliner on the center stage at the 16th Annual Stonewall Street Festival and Parade on Saturday, June 20, 2015. The Pop/R&B foursome of Cindy Herron-Braggs, Dawn Robinson, Maxine Jones and, Terry Ellis, most popular for releasing a string of hit songs in the 1990s, will entertain the crowd with their popular hits such as "Whatta Man" and "Free Your Mind".

Also performing on the center stage during the Stonewall Street Festival are Maxine Nightingale, a soul singer popular for her disco hits in the 1970s, the famous Madonna impersonator straight from Los Angeles, Venus DeLight, and electronic music performer Shemuwel. The other stages of the festival are also filling up quickly with iconic entertainers. Crystal Waters, an American house music singer, has been announced as a performer on the north stage.
"There are still more entertainers to be announced as we continue to work on making this year's Stonewall Festival and Parade a must-attend event for locals and visitors alike," said Sterling.
The 2015 Wilton Manors Stonewall Street Festival begins at 1 p.m. and continues until 11 p.m. The center stage, located at NE 6th Ave., as well as the north stage, located in the Rumors Parking Lot at 2426 Wilton Dr., will feature live performances throughout the day. Vendor booths, from local, regional and national businesses and nonprofits, food trucks and drink tents will line the length of Wilton Drive.
In addition to the live performances and parade, which begins at 6 p.m., the event will feature HIV/AIDS education and testing.
Parking for Stonewall will be available in the following lots:
- 8th Terrace Lot, Northeast 8th Terrace and Northeast 26th Street
- City Hall, 2020 Wilton Drive
- Fort Lauderdale High School, 1600 NE 4th Avenue
- Iberia Bank, 2465 Wilton Drive
- Municipal Complex, 2100 Dixie Highway
- Richardson Park, 1937 Wilton Drive
The cost is $15. VIP passes will be good at all locations.
Each year, the City of Wilton Manors joins communities across the country remembering the Stonewall Riots: a series of demonstrations staged by New York City's gay community on June 27, 1969, after they had grown tired of harassment from the Police Department, by hosting the Stonewall Street Festival and Parade.
