EHE International Joins Forces With Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance and the CDC to Encourage Screening
Rockefeller Plaza Window Display Promotes Importance of Getting Screened for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
NEW YORK, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A window display at Rockefeller Plaza this month will emphasize the lifesaving value of colorectal cancer screening, reaching almost 250,000 people per day with this important public health message. A collaboration between the Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (EIF's NCCRA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) Screen for Life: National Colorectal Cancer Action Campaign, the display provides facts about colorectal cancer screening to dispel common misconceptions that might cause people to forego a screening test. The window space at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, donated by EHE International, will house the display throughout March, National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Of cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second-leading cancer killer in the U.S., yet is highly curable when caught early and often entirely preventable with screening. EIF's NCCRA, co-founded by Katie Couric, works to raise awareness about the importance of getting screened and supports groundbreaking research to improve the way colon cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
"EHE International is happy to donate the window in Rockefeller Center for the month of March to EIF's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance. Together we hope to inform and raise awareness about the importance of screenings," said Deborah McKeever, President of EHE International.
"While it's very gratifying that the colorectal cancer death rate has been declining steadily over the past few years, there's still so much to be done," said Lisa Paulsen, Entertainment Industry Foundation President and CEO. "About one-third of adults who should be screened for colon cancer have not been, so we're always grateful for opportunities like this to spread the message that screening saves lives."
The display was created as part of CDC's multimedia and multiyear Screen for Life campaign, which partners with EIF's NCCRA on several awareness building activities.
