PORTLAND, Maine, Aug. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On August 7th, the Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative (MLMC) headed to San Francisco for a Maine Lobster-inspired industry night event attended by chefs, culinary professionals and influencers throughout the city. The event, "Maine After Midnight," highlighted the culinary versatility of Maine Lobster, the seasonal nuances of Maine New Shell Lobster and the sustainable fishing practices that have been in place in Maine for generations.
In partnership with local chefs Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski of The Progress and State Bird, the MLMC shared the unique story of the Maine Lobster fishery with tastemakers in San Francisco, inspiring them to consider Maine Lobster for their menus.
"I had the opportunity to visit Maine a few weeks ago and experience the fishery first hand," said Chef Stuart Brioza. "As a chef, I take great pride in the food that I serve my guests. I know that with every ingredient we use, there is a story that goes along with it, and there really is no better story than Maine Lobster."
Event attendees immersed themselves in the rich history of the Maine Lobster industry, learning straight from the source, as Maine Lobstermen mingled with guests to educate them about the industry and share their stories first-hand.
"I've been lobstering for as long as I can remember" said Jim Dow, Maine Lobsterman. "For me, lobstering is a way of life, not just a job, and I'm so proud to be able to represent my industry here in San Francisco by educating chefs on our delicious product and what makes it so unique."
"From one coastal community to another, we really see the passion that folks here have for their seafood and we share that same passion back home in Maine," said Matt Jacobson, Executive Director of the MLMC. "We hope that with our visit to the Bay Area, we not only educate people on our product and story, but also create advocates for years to come supporting the men and women that work tirelessly to bring Maine Lobster from trap to table."
The MLMC is bringing "Maine After Midnight" to tastemakers in culinary epicenters across the country throughout the season, including Dallas, Chicago and New York City. About the MLMC
The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative (MLMC), founded in 2013, is funded by Maine Lobster harvesters, dealers and processors to grow demand, both for whole live lobster and a variety of value-added products. The MLMC supports that objective by promoting the core values of the Maine Lobster industry, which are sustainability and traceability that's deeply rooted in tradition.
