On August 21, 2014, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (Anadarko) reported that the Environmental Defense Fund will be partnering with Anadarko and other companies in announcing five innovations, that will advance in the Methane Detectors Challenge, a collaboration aimed at identifying next-generation technologies to help monitor methane emissions from oil and natural gas operations, with the intent to ultimately promote meaningful reductions of these gases. As stated, the selected technologies will receive one or more rounds of laboratory or field testing to evaluate their efficacy in detecting methane leaks. AK Steel Holding Corporation Research Reports
On September 3, 2014, shares in AK Steel Holding Corporation (AK Steel) fell 6.36% to end the trading session at $10.01. This follows the Company's release on the same day that confirmed reduced operations at the Ashland Works blast furnace which will impact both Q3 2014 and Q4 2014 results in terms of production, shipments, operating costs and margins. As per AK Steel, for Q3 2014, unplanned maintenance outage and subsequent lower than normal production levels will negatively affect its financial results by approximately $25 million. Q4 2014 results will be affected by as much as $42 million due to repair and lost-production costs, the Company added. AK Steel said it expects diluted EPS to be in the range of $0.05 to $0.10, while analysts polled by Thomson Reuters projected earnings of $0.26 a share. Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. Research Reports
On September 3, 2014, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (Cliffs) has hired three investment banks to sell its U.S. and Australian iron ore assets. As per the report on WSJ, Cliffs has hired Deutsche Bank to sell its coal assets in West Virginia and Alabama; Jefferies Group LLC to sell its Australian iron ore mines; and Moelis & Co. as strategic adviser of the overall process. In an interview to WSJ, a week before, CEO Lourenco Goncalves said that his focus would be to turn around less profitable assets, while entertaining offers to sell. TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. Research Reports
On September 4, 2014, Bloomberg, citing people with knowledge of the matter, reported that ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF) is restarting talks to exit its joint venture with Robert Bosch GmbH, paving way for its takeover of TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. (TRW). As per the news article, ZF is seeking to sell its half of the steering-systems venture to Bosch to avoid any antitrust issues, since TRW has a large presence in steering systems. If a deal with Bosch is reached, an agreement to acquire TRW and create the world's No. 2 automotive supplier could come as soon as next week, the news article on Bloomberg said. The article further reported that ZF confirmed in July 2014 that it is in talks to buy TRW, which would create the world's second-largest auto-parts supplier by sales, trailing only Bosch.
