International Exchange Student Program Seeks Coordinators In Your Town
PORT CHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PAX - Program of Academic Exchange seeks local coordinators throughout the U.S. to work with international high school students visiting for the school year.
A community coordinator is an independent contractor who represents the PAX program in the local community. "It is a great opportunity to provide families in your community a positive, life-changing experience through exposure to a new culture," says Bradley Smith, PAX president and chief executive officer.
Anyone interested in becoming a community coordinator should fill out a PAX inquiry form or call 800-555-6211.
According to Kathleen Cassidy, community coordinator from Idaho, "My favorite thing about being a local coordinator for more than nine years is everything it entails: helping to match students and host families with similar interests; helping families to travel without traveling abroad (by hosting); and helping teenagers from around the world live their dream in the true America."
"Also, PAX offers an opportunity to earn trips around the world where I have been able to meet the families of my PAX kids. That part is what really hits me in the heart," says Cassidy.
Community coordinators are responsible for recruiting and screening volunteer host families; arranging placement with local high schools; and supporting students, host families, and schools throughout the academic year.
The position boasts part-time, flexible scheduling, modest compensation on a commission basis, annual domestic and international educational travel perks, and is managed from home. Many, but not all, community coordinators bring international, education, or youth program experience to the role. And the most successful have excellent networking, public relations, communications, and sales skills.
