Heading Into Year Two, DWA's Pilot Academy Program Is Hunting Another Group Of Top Graduates.
SAN FRANCISCO, March 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- DWA, the leading global media agency specializing in the technology sector, today announced opening the recruiting process for its DWA 2016 Academy program.
DWA is now accepting applications from students completing their undergraduate studies in the Spring of 2016 from The University of Texas and The University of San Francisco. After a careful application process, the four best candidates will be chosen to join DWA as members of the agency's Academy program and work in the San Francisco office.
The DWA Academy is entering its second year, after launching in 2015. The program is based on the idea that innovation and change is critical to success in advertising today and in the belief that smart young marketers and advertisers must constantly shape and reshape the modern agency, in order to achieve greatness for clients.
DWA selected two universities as pilots for the Academy program with direct ties to the agency. Currently DWA North America employs five graduates from The University of San Francisco and three from The University of Texas, including President Americas, Bob Ray.
"We're excited to see USF graduates thriving in the advertising world," said Julia Hing, Associate Director of Employer Relations at The University of San Francisco. "The DWA academy is a unique opportunity for graduates. They get to experience a wide variety of important roles in advertising, are given ways to immediately contribute to the agency, and can interact directly with clients."
During the 6-month program, Academists work side-by-side and support each other as they progress through the program. The program is broken down into four 6-week rotations through agency specialties including: media planning and buying, intent marketing, account management, and sales and marketing. The rotation gives Academists a holistic view of how an agency functions and how each department works together. Academists gain a better feel for different positions, and can better identify which field most peaks their interest.
"We were able to collaborate with almost every employee in the agency," said Monique Taylor, Assistant Media Planner at DWA and an inaugural Academy program graduate. "The Academy gave us the opportunity to learn from multiple perspectives and skillsets. We essentially demo'd four different jobs in advertising before committing to a single direction. Department mentors and leaders helped us identify strengths and how they could be applied at the agency."
"Most entry-level positions don't receive this type of mentorship, especially from upper management," said Luke Adkins, Programmatic Media Associate at DWA and also an inaugural Academy program graduate. "The opportunity to receive regular support and advice from agency executives was unique and an invaluable opportunity during our introduction to agency life."
The Academy program is searching for the best young graduates who are passionate about advertising and ready to take the leap into agency life. Interested candidates are asked to send their resume and cover letter to [email protected] or visit www.dwamedia.com/careers for more information.
