Drizly, The Smartphone App For Fast Alcohol Delivery, Names Michael DiLorenzo As Senior Vice President of Marketing
Pioneering digital marketer from the NHL and online retailer Rue La La brings more than 20 years of experience in audience development, inbound marketing and public relations
BOSTON, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Drizly, Inc., the smartphone app for fast alcohol delivery, today announced that it has named Michael DiLorenzo as its senior vice president of marketing. DiLorenzo joins Drizly from online retailer Rue La La, where he was a vice president in the marketing group, focused on audience development through social media and content marketing, new technologies and analytics.
Reporting to founder and CEO Nick Rellas, DiLorenzo will provide strategy and oversight of all marketing opportunities, including the critical areas of customer acquisition and performance marketing channels; direct and database marketing; contact strategy; social media and content marketing; advertising; activation, retention and loyalty; public relations; user experience; analytics; and events.
"Tens of thousands of smartphone users have already discovered the magic of Drizly," said DiLorenzo. "With our strong financial backing and management team, I am eager to execute Drizly's vision for becoming the Amazon for alcohol, driving rapid growth of consumer app installs, sending incremental orders and business to retail and brand partners, and expanding into new markets across the United States."
Prior to Rue La La, DiLorenzo was a senior director at the National Hockey League, where he formed the League's social media marketing department and strategy. DiLorenzo established the NHL's presence on Twitter and Facebook, growing both into substantial sources of incremental revenue from partnership marketing and direct-to-consumer products, and a key device for driving tune-in and downloads.
For his work, DiLorenzo was named to PR Week's prestigious "40 Under 40" list in 2010, and was featured in the book "Empowered" by Josh Bernoff, senior vice president of idea development for marketing professionals at Forrester Research. During his time at the NHL, the League's work in social media marketing was also honored by the 2011 Webby Awards and the 2011 Sports Media Marketing Awards.
Before the NHL, DiLorenzo held managing director and other senior client management positions at Boston-area public relations agencies servicing entrepreneurial technology companies.
"Mike has a unique background for accelerating Drizly's consumer penetration, market share growth and value to partners across the U.S.," said Nick Rellas, founder and CEO of Drizly. "His experience in retail, media and fact-based marketing programs will help us advance our vision for being the Amazon for alcohol."
