Dr. Seuss Enterprises launches nationwide "Kid, You'll Move Mountains" contest in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Places You'll Go!
NEW YORK, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, on Dr. Seuss's birthday and in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the last book of his career, Oh, the Places You'll Go!, Dr. Seuss Enterprises is launching "Kid, You'll Move Mountains," a nationwide search for children ages 5 to 18 who excel in the areas of STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Curiosity and ingenuity are at the center of STEAM learning. Throughout his extraordinary career, Dr. Seuss inspired his young readers to ask questions and use their imaginations.
In keeping with the empowering message of Oh, the Places You'll Go!, which encourages kids to find the success that lies within all of us, "Kid, You'll Move Mountains" recognizes and celebrates children nationwide who are living its message.
The contest opens today, March 2nd, Dr. Seuss's birthday, and nominations will be accepted through March 29th. Public voting and judging of essay entries will take place in April, and the winner will be announced in May.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a $10,000 Scholarship Grant, a ride on the Goodyear Blimp, and a Universal Orlando Resort theme park vacation with airfare provided by JetBlue Airways. Four finalists will each receive $5,000 Scholarships. Prizing has been donated by Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Random House Children's Books, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Universal Orlando Resort, JetBlue Airways and the National Education Association.
A panel of judges will select the winners, including Susan Brandt, President, Licensing and Marketing of Dr. Seuss Enterprises; a representative from the National Education Association; David A. Winslow, Senior Vice President, Technical Services, Universal Orlando Resort; Bob Chase from The Chase Group; and Bart Roberts, Vice President of Flight Operations at JetBlue Airways.
