SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Doorman, the on-demand package delivery startup that has been eliminating missed deliveries and thwarting package thieves, is now looking to solve the other annoying aspect of online shopping: sending back the stuff you don't want.
The new returns pickup feature allows online shoppers to send back those shoes that don't fit, and anything else you regret buying, by scheduling pickup from the comfort of your own home using the Doorman iOS app. Waiting in line at shipping centers or long walks to a parcel delivery locker to return packages may become as antiquated as hailing a taxi.
"Our focus started with fixing package delivery, but that's not the end of the shopping experience anymore. Over 30% of apparel purchases are returned, and our goal is to make the entire online shopping process – from receipt to return – more delightful."
This adds much-requested functionality to the original version of the iOS app which focused on package delivery, by allowing customers to get all their purchases delivered to their front door on their schedule. Just ship online purchases to your own personal shipping address at the Doorman warehouse, and then schedule home delivery anytime from 6 p.m. to midnight, seven days a week, same day or a month away, for just $3.99 per package or $19 per month for unlimited deliveries.

And now for the same price, users can schedule pickup of their online returns with just a few taps on the newly created returns shipping screen.
A Doorman courier will pick up the packages and drop them off at shipping carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and USPS. This saves users the hassle of losing hours of work to make it to the post office in time to return the hoverboard they saw catch fire on YouTube.
"This holiday season marked a tipping point in the shift from brick and mortar to online shopping, with record breaking e-commerce sales and returns. It's expected that gifts with an original retail value of $19.4 billion, or about a quarter of all e-commerce sales, are expected to be returned. That's a lot of time wasted in long lines at the post office."
"Doorman has seen amazing growth since last holiday season. We grew over 690% last year, and we're excited to roll out to more cities with our continuing commitment to fix the most important moments of online shopping: when you actually get - and return - your stuff," said Adell.
