DoctorLogic® Proves its Website Product Increases Online Organic Search Results with Comprehensive Before and After Patient Galleries
Studies show that almost half of all page views occur in the gallery section--more than double that of the home page--making it a "must-have" tool for plastic surgeons
DALLAS, June 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Plano-based software developer, DoctorLogic, proves the need for comprehensive before and after galleries for plastic surgeons. The company states organic search traffic for their websites rose 71.2% when both images and generic demographic information were included for each patient case. They continue by noting the gallery is one of the most searched items a patient looks at during the research phase, with more than 42% of page views occurring in this section, which is double that of the home page.
The data collected confirms that both patients and online search engines desire more in-depth galleries. Andrew Ripley, Product Development Director at DoctorLogic, uses the analogy of researching cars or browsing products on retail sites such as Amazon.
"These sites have powerful galleries because they allow criteria selection. A plastic surgeon's gallery should act the same way. A petite woman researching breast augmentation desiring to go from an A-cup to a D-cup wants to see others like her," states Ripley.
During the Aesthetic Meeting in April, members from DoctorLogic met with surgeons and found galleries dominated the discussions by 80%. These conversations included concern regarding HIPAA laws and patient privacy.
According to Ripley, "Many physicians do not have a formal process in place for obtaining patient consent. Most of the websites we surveyed failed to strip potentially identifiable patient information from their images. These safeguards are needed to protect the patient and the practice."
DoctorLogic provided surgeons gallery tips at the show. These tips, and more, will be featured in Modern Aesthetics later this month:
- Ensure patients sign a HIPAA compliant photo gallery release form
- Take photos with consistent views, ratios and backgrounds
- Write useful content relevant to what is shown
- Keep images generic by deleting patient/location data
- Use a diverse mix of photos showing best outcomes
- Add photos often so that search engines have new material to crawl
- Make certain the gallery looks great and downloads fast on all devices
