Disruptive Technology Advisers Strengthens Leadership Team with the Addition of Two Senior Executives
Investment Banker Gregory D. Kennedy Named President and Chief Operating Officer
Financial Services Executive Robert J. Williams, Jr. Named Chief Revenue Officer
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Disruptive Technology Advisers, LLC ("DTA" or the "Company"), a registered investment adviser and merchant banking firm serving leading private growth companies, today announced two transformational senior executive appointments: Greg Kennedy, an investment banking industry veteran, as President and Chief Operating Officer, and Robert J. Williams, Jr., a financial services industry executive, as Chief Revenue Officer.
Headquartered in Los Angeles and founded in 2011 by Alex Davis, the firm's owner and Chief Executive Officer, DTA offers innovative investment banking solutions that connect private companies and their shareholders with an extensive network of institutional and ultra-high net worth investors. The hallmark of DTA is its merchant banking mindset, partnering with issuers based on a strong investment thesis and a capacity and appetite to put its own capital to work alongside its investor clients.
"I am incredibly energized to welcome Greg and Robert, two high caliber executives, to our growing company," said Mr. Davis, Chief Executive Officer of DTA. "Greg brings a unique set of skills that will help scale a boutique firm. Having partnered with Greg over the years when our firms were executing joint mandates, I am delighted to add someone with his experience in building businesses, managing teams and advising prestigious clients. Similarly, Robert's successful track record managing important public and private companies, including serving as President of Washington Mutual, and his extensive financial experience, will help identify new revenue opportunities and drive our overall growth strategy."
Mr. Davis continued, "Like the companies we serve, DTA is a growth company, and Greg and Robert's experience in working for and advising financial services firms will be a game-changer for our business. We will continue to do what we have done well – bringing the right investors into great companies. We will add new businesses that will prosper given our relationships and plentiful opportunities in the private capital markets."
"I am excited about this moment at DTA – we've proven the model, and it's time to focus on scale and adjacent businesses, such as debt products structured for private companies," said Mr. Kennedy. "DTA's exclusive focus on mid- to late-stage growth companies is distinctive. This gives us market insights into attractive transactions and into the creation of new products that meet the needs of companies and investors. Our vision is simple: we will be a standard-bearer as a merchant bank serving private companies and private markets. Since meeting Alex in 2014, I have admired his ability to think like both a founder and an investor. Importantly, Alex's talent is not an abstraction; he aligns DTA with issuers and investors by investing the firm's capital alongside clients. I also look forward to attacking exciting opportunities with Robert, a creative and savvy executive I have known well since 2000, when he and his firm, SunTrust, were Morgan Stanley clients."
"It's great to join DTA at this important juncture," said Mr. Williams. "Now is the time to execute on the Company's tremendous opportunities, and I couldn't be more excited by this role and the ways in which I can deliver results for our investors and clients. Our focus on reputation, relationships and excellence in execution, combined with deep private market expertise, sets us apart from others in our industry. DTA is well-positioned to offer our issuer, shareholder and investor clients a uniquely compelling value proposition. This differentiation will enable our ongoing expansion."
