LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- My Bed Bug Lawyer Inc. (http://www.mybedbuglawyer.com), the Nation's leading law firm for Bedbug Litigation has filed a lawsuit against the Walt Disney Company, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, and the iconic Disneyland Hotel over a woman's exposure to bed bugs during a recent two-night stay at the hotel.
According to the complaint filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, the plaintiff, Ivy Eldridge, was attacked by bedbugs at the Disneyland Hotel in April of this year. Ms. Eldridge endured severe pain and suffering from the attack and has sustained physical, emotional, and financial injuries as a result of the bedbug exposure from the bed bug infested room she rented at the fabled hotel, located in Anaheim, California. Ms. Eldridge, who was staying at the hotel while visiting the Disneyland Park with family members, seeks monetary and punitive damages against the defendants.
The lawsuit alleges that the defendants failed in its obligation to provide a bed-bug-free and habitable room to Ms. Eldridge. According to Brian Virag, the Founder of My Bed Bug Lawyer, Inc., the Hotel was aware of bed bug complaints prior to Eldridge's stay. "This was not a situation where a person sustained one or two bites. Ms. Eldridge was bitten throughout her body, including, but not limited to her face, ears, neck, arms, and back. She was absolutely massacred," said Virag.
"People put trust in the Disney name and pay top dollar to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. In this case, Ms. Eldridge's trust was betrayed," Virag said.
Standard room prices at the Disneyland Hotel typically begin around $400 per night and can be much higher based on availability.
"Bed bugs don't discriminate," Virag added, "They are found in hotels throughout the country and worldwide. Bed bug infestation in hotels have reached an epidemic proportion and is perhaps the most serious issue facing the hotel industry, because of the harm it can do to a hotel's reputation and brand."
According to Virag, about one in every five Americans has either experienced or knows someone who has experienced bed bugs, and hotels are not immune and remain particularly susceptible.
In June of this year, Virag filed a lawsuit on behalf of Brazilian-born supermodel Sabrina Jales St. Pierre against Hilton Hotels over Jales' exposure to bed bugs in a Palm Desert, California, hotel room in 2016; the case is still pending in superior court. In October 2017, Virag obtained a $546,000 jury verdict against another Hilton property, the Hilton Garden Inn in Rancho Cucamonga, California, for an Arkansas family who were exposed to bed bugs during a one-night stay at the hotel. Recently, Mr. Virag also obtained a $102,000 verdict against the Budget Inn in Stockton, California for bedbug exposure from a short-term hotel stay. Mr. Virag has also recently obtained the largest bedbug verdicts in US History against apartment complexes in the amount of 3.5 million against Park La Brea Complex and 1.6 Million for a single family exposed to bedbugs.
