Discovery Learning, Inc. Announces Next Generation Leadership Training With Launch of The Exchange™
New Interactive Decision-Making Simulator Helps Busy Executives Navigate Today's 24/7 Business World
GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Discovery Learning, Inc. announces the debut of its new forward-looking brand identity, which coincides with the launch of its new interactive simulation called The Exchange™. Featuring experiential learning and decision-based training, The Exchange™ reflects the challenges of today's fast-paced organizations.
"The growth and evolution of Discovery Learning's leadership and training models is reflected in our new brand identity. In particular, our new logo conveys the energy and scope of our connected, current and global approach," commented Dr. Chris Musselwhite, Discovery Learning's president and CEO, and recent recipient of the World HRD Congress' Outstanding Leadership Award.
Discovery Learning's increased focus on efficient, user-friendly, and technologically sophisticated approaches to training and development is embodied by The Exchange™, which was developed exclusively for certified leadership and organizational development professionals worldwide.
"Since our inception in 1990, Discovery Learning has integrated the best of research and theory to create practical, applicable and results-oriented training for today's leaders, executives and managers," said Dr. Chris Musselwhite. "The Exchange™ represents Discovery Learning's evolved training model, which leverages innovations in technology, user-interface, and a deep understanding of the complex dynamics we face today."
About The Exchange™
The Exchange™ gives executives and managers the opportunity to collaborate within a simulation characterized by complex data, ambiguity and time constraints. Simulation outcomes include:
- Creating awareness of a team's biases toward reactive versus innovative change.
- Revealing a group's ability to work effectively in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Highlighting the need for efficient and effective decision-making processes.
- Examining the impact of risk and uncertainty on strategy and execution.
To succeed in The Exchange™, participants must engage in critical thinking, work effectively with their colleagues, recognize emerging trends, maintain flexibility, and act decisively. Each participant is a member of a team that earns points by trading Combos, which are formed by assembling colored medallions into predefined groupings. Combos have an initial value as well as emerging values and liabilities. The assignment is to collect as many points as possible by trading combos over four trading sessions.
Taking about two and a half hours to complete, The Exchange™ is packaged for four groups, and accommodates up to 32 participants. Available in English, the simulation is web-based with a high-touch application, and complements Discovery Learning's Influence Style Indicator®, Decision Style Profile®, Change Style Indicator®, and Change Readiness Gauge™.
