SILVER SPRING, Md., Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to bring financial education into more classrooms and promote fiscal responsibility among high school students, Discover Financial Services, a recognized leader in the financial education space, and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, today announced their collaboration to launch Pathway to Financial Success in Schools, a standards-aligned suite of materials to provide students, educators, and their families with tools and expertise to make intelligent financial decisions and achieve their personal goals.
Pathway to Financial Success in Schools aims to increase financial literacy for high school students through interactive instruction and practice exercises. The free, multi-year program offers a comprehensive curriculum of resources to families and classrooms nationwide. Providing unique e-learning experiences, organized into eight financial literacy themes – each crafted for flexible use as single-class learning experiences or thematic lessons – Pathway to Financial Success in Schools teaches financial education to students from 9–12 in a fun and engaging way.

One way Discover has delivered on this mission is through Pathway to Financial Success, a five-year program launched in 2012 that brought financial education curriculum to more than 1,900 highs schools and more than one million students through $13 million in grants provided to the schools.
Discover is continuing its commitment to financial education through Pathway to Financial Success in Schools, a new and exciting financial education program developed by Discovery Education in consultation with Discover. Discovery Education's established network of schools, teachers and guidance counselors will enable Discover to continue to deliver free financial education, reaching additional schools and students. The development of a 21st century curriculum that incorporates parental involvement will help teachers across the country give both students and families the tools they need to make good financial decisions.

Unit 3: Financing Your Future
Financing Your Future resources will help students map out their financial journey and higher education financing options.
Unit 4: Getting Paid
Getting Paid resources will help provide students with the tools they need to navigate the working world – both before and after they have landed a desired career.
Additional program elements, scheduled to launch in 2018, will include classroom and family extension activities for each module and an educator guide to accompany in-class instruction.
