Digi International Introduces TransPort® WR11 Cellular Router, Providing Secure Low Cost Connections for Retail and Point-of-Sale Applications
The WR11 helps retailers increase uptime and reduce costs associated with disconnected stores
MINNETONKA, Minn., Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) today announced the release of the TransPort WR11, a cellular router that provides a secure and reliable connection for retail and point-of-sale applications. The TransPort WR11 connects ATMs, lottery terminals, payment kiosks, vending machines, and digital signs with cellular networks. The WR11, the newest member of the Digi TransPort family, helps retailers and payment network operators increase network uptime and reduce costs associated with disconnected stores and payment terminals.
The WR11 offers a unique combination of enterprise routing protocol support, PCI-ready security features, and advanced network management through Device Cloud by Etherios™. Its small form factor and single Ethernet port makes it ideal for point-of-sale environments. With dual SIMs standard, the WR11 offers carrier agility and network redundancy.
"M2M is one of the fastest-growing major new segments for service providers. We forecast global revenue from M2M operator services to more than double between 2012 and 2017, from just under $15 billion to $31 billion," affirms analyst Godfrey Chua, who directs Infonetics Research's M2M and The Internet of Things program. "What's often overlooked about M2M is that it will not only be delivered by way of connectivity capabilities embedded into a machine but also via purpose-built broadband connectivity devices, such as enterprise grade 3G and 4G routers, like the WR11, that will then be attached to the machines."
The WR11 is part of the Digi TransPort family of python-programmable 3G/4G cellular routers that provide flexible, enterprise level cellular routers for remote and mobile networking applications. Hundreds of thousands of Digi cellular routers are in service today in over 40 countries around the world. Many are used in large-scale secure electronic payment networks for point-of-sale, lottery, self-service kiosks, and off-premise ATM machines. Digi routers are known for their reliability—many have been in service for nearly a decade. The new Transport WR11 cellular router is an opportunity for retailers and payment network operators to increase market penetration, provide faster revenue recognition, and improve customer convenience.
The 3G version of the TransPort WR11 is now available for $349 MSRP. The product includes a five year warranty. A 4G LTE version will be available in the summer of 2014. For more information or to purchase, visit: www.digi.com/WR11.
