Dickinson's Witch Hazel Skincare Revs Up Pollinator Support by Donating More Real Witch Hazel Gardens to Keep America Beautiful for National Planting Day, Than Ever Before!
An American beauty favorite since 1866, Dickinson's Witch Hazel Skincare is donating real Witch Hazel gardens to Keep America Beautiful Affiliates and Instagram followers across the country during the month of September to support pollinator health.
EAST HAMPTON, Conn., Sept. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickinson's Witch Hazel Skincare is kicking off National Planting Day today by donating real Witch Hazel pollinator gardens to support Keep America Beautiful and pollinator health during the entire month of September! National Planting Day, a fall initiative of Keep America Beautiful's, Great American Cleanup promotes overall pollinator health and celebrates our native ecosystems with events kicking off on September 9th and occurring through October. Bees and other pollinators rely on winter-blooming plants like Witch Hazel to gather and store pollen in the winter when all other flowers have withered away. That pollen is then used during the winter and early spring to feed pollinator babies.
Dickinson's Pollinator Gardens are designed to include winter, spring and summer blooming plants, so that pollinators have a year-round source of pollen. iThe Center for Biological Diversity found that more than half of the 4,000 species of native bees in North America and Hawaii are declining. That means nearly one in four (347 native bee species) are at an increasing risk of extinction. Dickinson's is committed to raising awareness about this crisis and helping to plant gardens around the country that are always in bloom to serve as a consistent pollen source.
"Dickinson's is proud to help beautify communities and support pollinator health through our partnership with Keep America Beautiful," said Bryan Jackowitz, President of Dickinson Brands Inc. "National Pollinator Week and National Planting Day are times to celebrate our ecosystem and spread the word about ways to help pollinators flourish across the country. Since 1866, our company has produced tried and true, multi-benefit witch hazel skincare and values the timeless impact and countless benefits of a strong pollinator community."
Thanks to the support of their Instagram followers, this year Dickinson's is donating 25 percent more American Witch Hazel Pollinator Gardens in comparison to their donation last year.
Dickinson's continues to encourage their fans and customers to join them in celebrating National Planting Day by planting real witch hazel and other plants not only just on National Planting Day, but all month long! Additionally, consumers have the chance to win product and garden prizes when they share photos of their local wildflowers that support pollinator health, using hashtag #WitchHazelFeedsBees on Instagram.
"National Planting Day is a call-to-action designed to mobilize Americans to support local ecosystems by planting native species," said Helen Lowman, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. "Our friends at Dickinson's understand the vital importance of pollinator health and we're thrilled to continue our partnership to 'Keep America Bee-utiful' by encouraging people to plant pollinators and other natives that strengthen our nation's green infrastructure and make communities environmentally healthier, economically stronger and more socially connected."
