Department of Revenue Moves Taxpayer Service Office from New Castle to Pittsburgh-Greentree in Cost-Savings Consolidation
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Revenue is consolidating district offices in western Pennsylvania, a move that will save taxpayers an estimated $208,000 annually in reduced operating costs.
The New Castle district office, located at 103 S. Mercer St., will close permanently at the close of business Friday, June 28. The five employees currently working out of this location will be reassigned to Revenue offices in Pittsburgh and Erie.
Effective July 1, Revenue's existing district office located at 11 Parkway Center in the Greentree suburb of Pittsburgh will assume the taxpayer service functions previously available at the New Castle location.
Effective July 1, area residents seeking help filing state taxes or completing Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program applications may call or visit one of the following district offices:
- Pittsburgh – Chamber of Commerce Building, 411 Seventh Ave., Room 420
- Pittsburgh-Greentree – 11 Parkway Center
- Greensburg – 15 W. Third St., Second Floor
- Erie – 448 W. 11th St.
Free Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program forms and assistance are also available at no cost from local Area Agencies on Aging, senior centers and state legislators' offices.
Taxpayers are also encouraged to visit the Department of Revenue's website for information and tax filing resources. At www.revenue.state.pa.us, taxpayers can file returns, make payments (including estimated payments), check the status of returns and refunds, update information, pay taxes by credit/debit card, access online customer service, review answers to commonly asked questions and download tax forms.
