New website mirrors "Raise Your Vote" voter information and registration hub launched earlier this year
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With Hispanic Heritage Month underway, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is launching a Spanish-language version of the Party's groundbreaking voter information and registration website today, www.VotarEsPoder.com. The first-of-its-kind website emphasizes functionality and simplicity to make it easier for people to register to vote and make their voices heard at the voting booth. Spanish-speaking voters will have information tailored to their city or town on how to register to vote and where and when voting occurs.

The "Votar Es Poder" website mirrors the "Raise Your Vote" voter registration hub released this past June and is a key component of the DNC's broader voter mobilization and registration efforts. Overall, the DNC and Organizing for America (OFA) have committed an unprecedented $50 million through the "VOTE 2010" campaign to help elect strong allies for President Obama in Congress this November.
The new tool is part of an ongoing effort by the DNC/OFA to use cutting edge technology to give volunteers and voters up to the minute information on the election and how they can get involved. In addition to the new website, DNC/OFA released an iPhone application earlier this summer that gives users information on where they can canvass, access to breaking news from the DNC/OFA, a tool to call their member of Congress, information on how to sign up for local OFA events, discussion points on the key news of the day, and a donate function that allows people to monetarily support the DNC/OFA.
The updated website is the latest push in the DNC's and OFA's unprecedented VOTE 2010 campaign to mobilize people who went to the polls for the first time in 2008, Democratic base voters, sporadic voters, newly-registered voters, and others to ensure they return to the polls this fall. OFA volunteers have been working all summer to support Democratic allies of the President who are committed to moving America forward and away from the failed Republican policies that drove our economy to the brink of a depression.
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 through October 15. Throughout the month, OFA supporters will engage voters around the progress President Obama and Congressional Democrats have made in strengthening the middle class by cutting taxes for small businesses and middle class families, making college affordable and accessible to all, and expanding health insurance for children through SCHIP, which for the first time allowed states to cover legal immigrant children.

Organizing for America (OFA) is a grassroots project of the Democratic National Committee. OFA's network of volunteers and staff is actively working in all 50 states to promote the President's agenda for improving the country. Since 2009, OFA supporters have played a key role in helping strengthen America's middle class by creating jobs, passing health insurance reform, building a clean energy economy, improving education, and reining in the excesses of Wall Street.
