DDB Lagos Remains One of LAIF'S Biggest Winners: Bags 10 Awards With a Grand Prix
LAGOS, Nigeria, Nov. 5, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The recently concluded 2010 Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) awards saw DDB Lagos, the most consistently awarded advertising agency in the country, making history once again. The creative powerhouse, which led the pack, ended the night winning multiple awards across multiple categories including a Grand Prix, the highest honor of the night. With about 130 nominations from over 19 of the top advertising agencies in Nigeria, this year's awards were highly competitive.
Since the inception of the awards in 2006 by the Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAN) in Nigeria, DDB Lagos has been the most consistently awarded agency with a yearly average of 12 awards across all categories and media. The Ideas Festival was established to celebrate original ideas, recognize marketing and creative excellence, improve the quality of the creative craft, and promote the spirit of healthy competition among advertising agencies in Nigeria.
Expressing immense pride in his team, Ikechi Odigbo, Managing Director of DDB, said, "Once again, the hard work of Team DDB has been recognized and rewarded and for that we are humbled and indeed appreciative."
He added, "Our overriding objective is to make every brand we work with the most influential in its category. We helped to introduce Mimee Noodles (May & Baker) to the Nigerian market in 2006 with the Boom ShaSha campaign, and as a young brand in a highly competitive industry, the Grand Prix is especially gratifying."
For the period under consideration, DDB had 19 nominations in several categories for press, outdoor, radio and television work created on behalf of a number of its blue chip clients, including MTN, Globe Motors and Mimee Noodles. The agency won a total of 11 awards: one gold, four silver and five bronze as well as a Grand Prix. Some of the winning campaigns include "Today We Dine" for Mimee Noodles, "Callertunez" and "Fan Zone" for MTN, "Text& Drive" for Globe Motors, and the DDB Lagos playing card.
The LAIF honors come on the heels of the Advertising Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) Awards for Marketing Excellence where DDB bagged two Gold awards for its work for MTN, for Winning Television Campaign and Overall Campaign of the Year.
