DBT-DATA Purchases State of the Art Data Storage Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia
With Four Data Center properties in Ashburn, Virginia, Washington Based DBT-DATA Establishes Itself As Formidable Player in the Data Storage Industry
WASHINGTON, Oct. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Adding to its portfolio of four data center properties in Ashburn, Virginia, DBT-DATA finalized the purchase from a Fortune 500 company of its fifth data center property. The 13-acre Cyber Integration Center is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It is the only data center in Maryland and Virginia with a Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, which establishes industry standards for a data center's performance and efficiency. The facility also possesses a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.
"DBT is excited about bringing our new Harrisonburg, Virginia data center online as a state of the art facility. Demand for federal government and private sector data storage is enormous in the greater Washington area," said David Tolson, president of DBT Development.
"With a total of 6000kw of IT load conditioned power, the Cyber integration Center offers 4500kw of power for immediate use for an existing customer and is built out with the capacity of 1500kw reserved power," added Tolson.
The Uptime Institute provides third party data center security certifications in 44 countries, making its program the industry's global standard. Serving clients across industries such as banking, government, healthcare and technology outsourcing, Uptime's Tier Classification System (I, II, III, IV) evaluates the security and risks of a data center's performance with IV being the highest level of security.
DBT-DATA will operate the Harrisonburg facility to meet the strictest standards required by the Federal Government and private enterprise. As the previous owner did, DBT will ensure the center adheres to the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA), which requires federal agencies and contractors to have cyber security programs that safeguard information. With 100% perimeter fencing, the Cyber Integration Center is equipped with card readers and biometric access at all control points for security which will be enhanced by a 24/7, on site IT and security staff.
The Cyber Integration Center is LEED Silver certified, which not only conserves energy but also saves money. From compact fluorescent lighting to high-efficiency evaporative chillers, air-side economizers for free cooling, and UPS, the company strives to maintain energy-efficient data centers without sacrificing reliability.
DBT-DATA owns four data center properties in Ashburn, Virginia, a municipality through which 60% of the United States' Internet traffic travels on a daily basis. The company plans to continue to grow its digital footprint in data storage capabilities to serve government and private sector clients.
