Dashlane Supports U2F on New 8th Gen Intel® Core™ Processors
Built in U2F makes two factor authentication simple & secure for Dashlane users with no second device required
NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, password manager Dashlane announced a collaboration with Intel for built-in Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) support as part of new 8th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. Dashlane is the first password manager to implement this new technology, a key component of the new 8th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. Now, Dashlane users do not need a second device for two factor authentication (2FA) to verify their identity, making it easy and more accessible to consumers who want to protect their personal information online.
In addition, Dashlane has been an Official Software Partner of Intel, supporting Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), a built-in security technology built into new Intel processors making it possible to protect passwords with hardware-enhanced security – something that's never been possible on PCs before. This second collaboration adds yet another additional layer of convenient security for Dashlane users.
"Two factor authentication adds an additional layer of protection and significantly reduces the risk of hackers accessing your critical accounts," said Dashlane CEO Emmanuel Schalit. "However, traditional methods can be cumbersome and usually requires a second device. This strategic innovation makes 2FA easier and more accessible – improving both security and convenience for our users."
"Intel is delighted to continue our collaboration with Dashlane," said Rick Echevarria, Vice President Software and Services Group and General Manager of Intel's Platform Security Division. "Both companies are committed to creating a more secure digital experience for people around the world and Intel hardware plus Dashlane software provide users a security combination to protect their data."
Three Easy Steps
- In your Dashlane app, open the Security tab of your Preferences and make sure Two-Factor Authentication is on.
- In the same tab, add a U2F security key. Dashlane will automatically detect your computer's Intel built-in second factor authentication capabilities. You'll be asked to activate the internal security key in a few simple steps.
- The next time you log into Dashlane on your 8th Gen Intel® Core™ computer, simply click on the button to verify you are present. This button is invisible to anyone attempting an account takeover and serves as your built-in second factor of authentication.
