Danamon and Manulife Collaborate to Grow Bancassurance in Indonesia

TORONTO / JAKARTA, Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk ("Danamon") and PT Asuransi Jiwa Manulife Indonesia (Manulife Indonesia) have announced the signing of a strategic partnership. This collaboration will enhance their joint offerings of banking, insurance and wealth management products to a broad base of Danamon customers, including microfinance, commercial and corporate customers. The partnership will be effective from July 1, 2012.

As a truly universal bank, Danamon serves all customer segments in Indonesia. It extends micro loans to individual customers averaging around 20 million rupiah; as well as middle-income customers, and small and medium sized enterprises. Danamon is also among the most prominent providers of commercial and corporate sized loans to companies and businesses in Indonesia.

Supporting education in Indonesia
At the signing ceremony, Danamon donated approximately 2000 personal computers to the Surya Institute, which will distribute them for education purposes to school-age children in homes across the country. Manulife also took part in this community project by donating IDR 100 million in cash to support the education of around 400 teachers from all parts of Indonesia as part of Surya Institute programs to increase the quality of education in Indonesia.
Surya Institute was founded in 2006 by Prof. Yohanes Surya, Ph.D. with a mission to reform Science and Math education in Indonesia. The institute's efforts promote Science and Math learning as fun, easy and meaningful, so what the students learn become life skills and prepare them to excel in the workforce. Surya Institute believe that through the advancement of science and mathematics education, Indonesia will have a highly skilled workforce that will significantly contribute to both local and international communities.
