WOONSOCKET, R.I., July 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS/pharmacy's ExtraCare Rewards program, the largest retail rewards program with more than 67 million active cardholders, today announced the launch of a new interactive digital campaign that encourages cardholders to take advantage of their rewards, as well as a new look for the ExtraBucks® rewards coupon. To encourage members to redeem their rewards, CVS/pharmacy is shining a spotlight on "MoneyTrashers," or customers who are "trashing their money" by not doing simple things like checking their receipts for ExtraBucks® rewards before tossing them in the trash, or redeeming special coupons cardholders receive by email and at in-store Coupon Centers.

On July 1, ExtraCare cardholders began receiving their quarterly ExtraBucks® rewards, which each shopper earns just for scanning their ExtraCare card during each shopping visit (some exclusions apply). These quarterly rewards are paid out four times a year.
To help more customers realize that these rewards can be used to buy almost anything in the store, CVS.com/moneytrashers and the CVS/pharmacy Facebook page now feature interactive content, including playful videos, showing shoppers all the ways they might be a "MoneyTrasher," alongside tips to save more at CVS/pharmacy by spending ExtraBucks® rewards and taking advantage of savings opportunities. Viewers will be able to vote on their favorite videos and can help spread the word to their friends and family on Facebook and Twitter to help teach them to "Stop Money Trashing."
In addition to the online MoneyTrashers campaign, customers will also see a new look for the ExtraBucks® rewards coupon. The new eye-catching design with larger print is intended to grab customers' attention so they take notice of their rewards, which can be spent during their next shopping trip on the items they want and need.
"There are millions of customers that are throwing their earned rewards away when they receive them so we decided to redesign the ExtraBucks® rewards coupons to really stand out," said Melissa Studzinski, vice president of customer relationship management for CVS/pharmacy. "Additionally, our new MoneyTrashers campaign was created to encourage every shopper to take advantage of their rewards while also providing our savviest customers with fun, digital resources to spread the word and teach their friends and family to stop 'trashing' their ExtraBucks® rewards."
