WESTBOROUGH, Mass., July 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cumberland Farms, a leading convenience, coffee and gasoline retailer, today announced that its customers have saved a total of $100 million through its SmartPay Check-Link® program since its launch in January 2013. SmartPay, which is free to join and free to use, is available as both a payment card and mobile payment app via the App Store or Google Play. Customers save 10 cents on every gallon of gasoline purchased, every day at any of the brand's nearly 600 gasoline retail locations across the Northeast and Florida.
To celebrate the milestone, Cumberland Farms is gifting the top 20 SmartPay users with $100 worth of free gasoline to thank them for their continued support and loyalty. The users have saved anywhere from $3,100 to $5,600 on gas since signing up for SmartPay and making Cumberland Farms their go-to retailer when they need to fuel up.
"We are excited to have reached this incredible customer savings milestone for SmartPay," said David Heilbronner, Director of Brand Strategy and Advertising for Cumberland Farms. "As we continue to roll out new features in the app, we're seeing more customers sign up to save significantly at the pump and earn rewards. We want to thank our SmartPay customers for their loyalty and encourage others who are not in the program to sign up."
Cumberland Farms revamped the SmartPay app in February with a new look and feel which included many new features, including Clubs, which allow mobile app users to earn their way to free in-store menu items, such as pizza and breakfast sandwiches. In addition to saving users 10 cents on every gallon of gasoline, mobile app users can also enjoy additional benefits, such as a free coffee or fountain beverage for every 50 gallons of gasoline purchased. To date, Cumberland Farms has given away over 5 million free drinks via SmartPay Rewards.
