Allstate gives college football fans the chance to inflict mayhem on the rival team ahead of the SEC Championship game
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Dec. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Prior to the highly anticipated matchup in the 2015 SEC Championship game between the University of Alabama and the University of Florida, Allstate will give fans of both teams the chance to inflict mayhem on their long-time rival. Crimson Tide and Gators fans will have a chance to shred the opposing team on Twitter with a little help from Allstate's familiar Mayhem character, two conveyor belts and one massive shredder.
Fans of both teams can participate in the Mayhem Tweet Off by using either #ShredAlabama or #ShredFlorida the morning leading up to the SEC Championship on Dec. 5. The team with the most votes against them leading up to kick-off will face its fate, as items onboard each team's conveyor belt, including a car, are inched closer toward an industrial-sized shredder by opposing fan votes.
"Mayhem continues to be an iconic figure, reminding college football fans to protect themselves from the uncertainties of game day mishaps," said Pam Hollander, vice president of marketing for Allstate Insurance Company. "And while college football fans can't control the outcome on the field, we're excited to give them the opportunity to have an impact off the field and show their team passion leading up to one of the biggest college football matchups of the year."
Activated by long-time advertising agency partner, Leo Burnett, fans of both teams can watch the mayhem unfold via a live Ustream video, featured on the Allstate @Mayhem Twitter handle. College football fans attending the SEC Championship will also have the opportunity to watch the live stunt as it is broadcast from Allstate's on-site footprint at SEC Fan Fare located in the Georgia World Congress Center.
Over the past four weeks, college football fans have battled it out on Twitter by voting for Mayhem to inflict mischief on their rivals during the Georgia vs. Auburn, Arizona vs. Arizona State, Florida State vs. Florida and UGA vs. Georgia Tech match-ups. The series of Tweet Off campaigns engaged fans across the country, leading up to the larger Mayhem Tweet Off ahead of the SEC Championship.
To learn more and participate in the Mayhem Tweet Off, visit twitter.com/Mayhem in the hours leading up to the SEC Championship on Dec. 5 and vote to either #ShredAlabama or #ShredFlorida.
