On March 6, Wallit went live with 700 virtual walls at popular places all around the world for users to view and "post" on—much like they do to a business or friend's social network profile—providing a unique glimpse into a collection of content that was created by people who were actually there. At launch walls were strictly created by Wallit; however, with thousands of new wall requests within the first few days, a leading theme emerged: Wallit users wanted the ability to instantly create walls at places. With this new version, millions of people can create walls on demand within the Wallit App at places such as their kitchens, homes, offices, classrooms and schools.
"Our growing community has really been responding to the app and telling us what features they would like to see next," said Dr. Veysel Berk, CEO and founder of Wallit. "Our users consistently said, 'I want to be able to create and use a wall, right here, right now.' The Wallit App new version 1.5 is a direct result of the overwhelming feedback we have received from people about how they want to use the Wallit App."
With Wallit version 1.5, "living" walls can be created by any person, at any time, in any location. A wall must remain active, with at least one post every 15 days. Multiple walls at the same location will be ranked by the new "character index" feature, with the most popular and active wall appearing at the top of the geo-located search results.
Character Index
With the new "character index" ranking system, walls will accumulate (character) points based on a proprietary algorithm to evaluate the quality and quantity of posts and the popularity of the people posting to the wall. The system is weighted, increasing in value if posts contain richer multi-media content, as well as taking into account each user's social media following. The character index will be vital in determining which walls survive and become the primary wall for a place, and which walls eventually die off.
"The principle behind Wallit is connecting people to and at places around the globe. We want people to be able to easily identify where they can interact with others and view the timeline of conversations at a place," said Berk. "Our 'character index' provides a Darwinian natural selection mechanism by which people will be able to pay attention to those walls with the richest contributions."
The Wallit App is free and does not require the creation of an account or user ID. For a list of virtual wall locations and images, please visit www.wallitapp.com or contact Kim Angell at [email protected].
