~Show will be in support of Cox Charities and Boys & Girls Clubs~
CHESAPEAKE, Va., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications and the UniverSoul Circus have once again teamed up to create a special performance to benefit Cox Charities and the Boys & Girls Clubs. Dubbed as "Boys & Girls Clubs/Cox Charities Day," this special circus show is on Saturday, May 1, 2010, 12:00 p.m. at the Military Circle Mall in Norfolk. UniverSoul Circus is donating $2.00 for every $16.50 ticket sold for this performance. All grandstand seats tickets for this show are $16.50.
The "Boys & Girls Clubs/Cox Charities Day" will feature actor, comedian and impersonator Anthony Luewellyn a.k.a. "Tony Tone" as the Ringmaster. The show will also feature among the many talents the following:
- Onionhead the Clown
- Chinese Checkers from China: Nine acrobatic female drummers perform multiple maneuvers with two different types of drums and scarves that criss-cross in mid-air over the center ring.
- Teeterboard from Gabon and Guinea: Tumblers will use a board similar to a see-saw to perform acrobatics and propel them into the air. The "flyer" lands either on another acrobat, or on a mat or on a chair.
To help highlight the effort, UniverSoul Circus talents made an early visit to Hampton Roads and gave a special preview on Friday, April 9, for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Virginia Beach and on Saturday, April 10, at the Cox Solutions Store in Chesapeake.
This is the second year that the UniverSoul Circus is donating a portion of its sale to Cox Charities, which will ultimately benefit the youth in Hampton Roads. Earlier this year Cox Charities awarded grants to nine local youth organizations to further the academic achievement and development of young people.
