Cortiva Institute - Scottsdale Sponsors 'Not Your Average Joe Race and Health Expo' on Saturday, Oct. 16
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Cortiva Institute – Scottsdale will sponsor the "Not Your Average Joe Race and Health Expo" on Saturday, October 16 at the Banner Ironwood Hospital at 37000 N. Ganzel Road in Queen Creek, Arizona.
All race proceeds go to the Joe Gibson Memorial Foundation, dedicated to supporting emergency medicine and empowering individuals to live healthy lifestyles. The foundation accomplishes its mission through community education, athletic events and fundraising.
Dr. Joe Gibson was a Phoenix emergency medicine physician who had dedicated his life to saving and helping people in need. A lifetime athlete, Gibson spent time training and participating in triathlons and running races to balance his life and to stay healthy. On December 29th, while on a training run in Phoenix, Joe was hit by a car. He sustained massive head injury and brain death. Even after his death, Gibson continued to give back to his community by donating organs.
"We're enormously proud to be a part of this great organization and event," said Cortiva Institute – Scottsdale campus president Mark Elliott. Cortiva students will be providing massages for some 500 or more participating athletes to help rejuvenate and restore muscles.
