Corna Kokosing Construction Breaks Ground On New Bob Evans Headquarters
Project will create a modern and environmentally friendly headquarters for an iconic Ohio brand
COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Corna, president of Corna Kokosing, says construction is under way for a new $31 million headquarters for Bob Evans Farms Inc. in New Albany.
"We are absolutely delighted, as another central Ohio family business, to be involved with Bob Evans," Corna said.
Corna said the project is a mix of traditional and futuristic design. Keeping its traditional roots, the new campus will sit on 40 acres of farmland as a modern version of a barn building. The project aims to raise the bar in terms of environmental friendliness. The goal of the Corna Kokosing team is to create a headquarters that will earn Gold LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, one of the highest environmental construction certifications in the country.
"It is the right thing to do for the environment, for future generations and for the client," Corna said. "Not only to give them the moral feeling of doing the right thing, but also to construct a sustainable building that will cost less to operate."
"Bob Evans expects this building to have a 50-year life span, at minimum," said John McCarty, Corna Kokosing Project Executive. "This is reflective of who they are as a company."
The headquarters' rural setting reflects Bob Evans' humble beginnings in Rio Grande, Ohio, something Corna can relate to as the owner of an Ohio-based business.
"I think everyone in central Ohio is proud of Bob Evans and its roots and its success," Corna said. "It's exciting to be involved with a company like this, and it gives us inspiration to do excellent work."
The project, which broke ground in April 2012, is expected to be complete in the fall of 2013.
