FLEMING HIGHLAND, Fla., Aug. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Continental Who's Who -- Rev. Donald M. Hackbardt, the Executive Director of God's Word to the Nations Mission Society, has been recognized by Continental Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership, and excellence in Bible translation, effective communication, and outreach strategies.
With over 20 years of experience as the Executive Director of God's Word to the Nations Mission Society, he frequently travels and speaks to religious groups about nonlocal outreach strategies. In addition, he also receives invitations to speak at the conventions (local, regional, or national) of a variety of vocations (doctors and other health care professionals, management groups from a variety of companies, dentists, lawyers, sales people, etc.) outside the Church about the importance of "The Ageless Challenge: Effective Communication," inasmuch as the topic relates to both success in communicating God's mission, as well as financial success in the business world.
Quite frankly, too much "jargon" dominates the conversation of both the Church and the private sector. As such, it should not surprise anyone that "words" are only worthwhile if they are understood by the listener (whether "the listener" is a Church member, customer, or client). In other words, regardless of your vocation: what good is speaking if no one outside your respective vocation understands what you're saying?
Despite his success at IBM as one of their top salespeople for 3 of the 8 years he spent with the company, the highlight of his career was leading a project that ultimately produced "GOD'S WORD®," an exceptional translation of God's saving, life-changing message that uses clear, natural English and not "theological jargon."
Rev. Hackbardt received a Master's Degree in Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary in 1986 and a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Political Science, and Sociology from The University of Michigan in 1973 prior to joining IBM. During the course of his leadership of the mission society, which began in 1992, he also completed training in Negotiating Your Success through James Hennig and Karass in 2000 and 1999 respectively, Growing Your Church through Outreach and Assimilation in 1999, and the prestigious Born To Win Program and Personal Coaching Program conducted by Zig Ziglar in 1999. In 1996-1997 he also attended various courses offered by the National Planned Giving Institute. He also served in the U.S. Army from early 1967 to late 1969.
In an interview with Continental Who's Who, Rev. Hackbardt stated that he attributes his success to the tremendous confidence and talent that God has given him (his leadership, vision, decision-making, management, and relational); and his exceptional verbal, written, and communication skills.
