Consumers Energy Launches Website on Corporate Social Responsibility; Focus on Stewardship, Jobs And Communities
JACKSON, Mich., Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Consumers Energy has launched a new Corporate Social Responsibility website -- www.consumersenergy.com/responsibility -- to communicate the utility's positive environmental, economic and social impact in Michigan.
The new website provides a comprehensive overview of Consumers Energy, which will mark its 125th year in 2011. The website highlights the pride the utility's 7,500 employees take in the company's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, corporate giving, job creation, safety and securing Michigan's energy future.
The home page features updates about the company's corporate social responsibility efforts and events as well as quick links to leading environmental issues. Video clips showcase the personal commitment that employees have to corporate social responsibility and also provide visitors with a "human face" of Consumers Energy.

The website incorporates guidelines developed by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
GRI is an international multi-stakeholder, network-based organization. It provides a comprehensive sustainability framework and consists of indicators and principles companies can use to measure their environmental, social and economic performance.
Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.5 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
