ConsumerMedical announces unprecedented growth in 2017
Leading health concierge company celebrates 50 percent year-over-year growth, now provides assistance to over 2 million individuals
PEMBROKE, Mass., Dec. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ConsumerMedical, a leading health care decision support and concierge company, announced its 2017 business milestones today, highlighting year-over-year growth of 50 percent. The organization now offers its Medical Ally concierge and clinical advocacy service to more than two million Americans nationwide. The service is available as a benefit offering to employees of mid- and large-sized employer customers, and to members of select health plan and private exchange partners.
"In 2017, we enhanced our expert medical opinion capabilities and expanded our claims advocacy services," says CEO David Hines. "Employers and plans are finding consumers really need these services. Health care costs continue to rise, patients are being asked to play a greater role in their medical decisions and cost sharing, and navigating the health care system is still difficult. We are a much-needed Medical Ally to people across their entire health care journey."
Earlier this year, the National Business Group on Health released its annual large employer survey, which showed a big increase in the number of employers offering decision support/concierge services to help employees navigate the health care system.
"We are honored to be selected by so many employers in large part because of our track record of proven outcomes and ROI and our outstanding customer service," says Hines.
In early 2018, ConsumerMedical plans to announce the expansion of its behavioral health product. The company will be the first among second opinion/concierge vendors to use relevant experience and quality metrics to refer participants to behavioral health providers beyond just psychiatrists.
"We've been able to help so many more participants who really need our support this past year in part because of our improved predictive outreach capabilities," explains Hines. "Our data identifies people who have a variety of risk factors, so we can reach out early to make sure they are getting the support and care they need. That is a win-win for the patient and the employer, with better value care."
To better serve participants, ConsumerMedical made significant upgrades to its technology platform in 2017 as well, launching a new Ally Platform enabled by Salesforce Health Cloud. The company also introduced a new corporate website late in the year.
"We are very pleased with 2017's growth, partnerships and new services," says Hines, "but we're just as excited about 2018. Our roadmap not only includes a self-service provider search tool, but also new cohort programs for patients with high cost conditions, including additional support for patients with cancer and musculoskeletal conditions.
