Consulting Magazine Names Slalom as Nation's Fourth Best Consulting Firm to Work For
Slalom Consulting adds its third consecutive honor from Consulting to this year's expanding list of recognition from business publications
SEATTLE, Aug. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive year, the consulting profession's largest independent analysis of employee satisfaction has ranked Slalom Consulting as one of its "Best Firms to Work For." Consulting magazine ranked Slalom number 4 in its 2012 survey, which gathered information about workplace culture and practices from more than 13,000 consultants employed by hundreds of firms across the nation and beyond. In 2010 and 2011, Consulting ranked Slalom tenth and sixth among the world's largest consulting firms.
"We simply believe that by treating our employees well and creating an excellent experience, including a great balance in their lives, they will be even more focused on doing amazing work for our clients," said Slalom National General Manager John Tobin. "This recognition as a best place to work validates our model and is very rewarding for our leadership team and the entire organization."
The consecutive awards from Consulting echo numerous other "best places" awards earned in 2012 by Slalom, which is headquartered in Seattle. The firm was honored as Seattle's fourth-best place to work by Seattle Magazine in their large-company category. Glassdoor rated Slalom seventh in its 2012 Employees' Choice Awards for Best Places to Work, as well as sixth for work-life balance and eleventh in career opportunities among all companies in all categories surveyed. In addition this year, Slalom was named one of Chicago's 101 Best and Brightest companies to work for, a Best Place to Work by the Dallas Business Journal, and an honouree on the Puget Sound Business Journal's Best Places to Work list in Washington. Slalom was ranked the 2012 number one medium-sized business by Oregon Business Magazine, as well as an overall winner for Top 100 Companies in Oregon. The Denver Post also ranked the Slalom office in that city as a Top Workplace in 2012.
Among the distinctive elements of Slalom's 11 offices across the country are a "no unwanted travel" policy; innovation groups that encourage consultants to take time to work on their biggest and newest ideas; the ability of employees to build their career paths at their own pace; and a core value that declares, "Do the right thing for our clients. Always."
"Many consulting companies have started out with a similar culture and a set of core values, but then drifted away from them as they grew," noted Tobin. "For whatever reason, their priorities changed. Our purpose is to buck that trend, never to stray from our core values and culture, and to grow and prosper because of this. Our strategy is to manage and nurture our culture while we grow and mature. Needless to say, our future is very exciting."
