General Electric Company Analyst Notes
On May 1, 2014, General Electric Company (GE) announced that GE Intelligent Platforms' Proficy® Mobile has been implemented by Cornell University so as to achieve real-time operational Intelligence (RtOI) in its facilities management. According to the university, the RtOI provides 40% faster off-hours troubleshooting, increasing energy savings, reliability and equipment uptime. With the help of Proficy Mobile, the facilities team at Cornell University can observe operations and drill into KPIs such as electrical distribution, amount of power the university is sending or receiving from the grid, and power through breakers. Manitowoc Co. Inc. Analyst Notes
On May 1, 2014, shares of The Manitowoc Company, Inc. (Manitowoc) plunged 10.16% after the Company reported dismal Q1 2014 numbers. The Company reported Q1 2014 net sales of $850 million, down 5.0% YoY, missing Wall Street analysts' consensus estimate of $908.89 million. Manitowoc stated that the Foodservice segment net sales increased by 9.3% YoY due to continued success from new products and growth in the Americas and EMEA regions, while net sales in the Crane segment were $466.7 million, down 14.2% YoY due to lower level of backlog at the start of the year along with few customer-related project delays. Excluding special items the adjusted earnings from continuing operations was $23.7 million, or $0.17 per diluted share, versus adjusted earnings of $14.6 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, in Q1 2013. Fluor Corporation Analyst Notes
On May 1, 2014, Texas-based, Engineering and construction Company - Fluor Corporation (Fluor) announced financial results for Q1 2014. The Company generated revenue of $5.4 billion, down 25.1% YoY because of a considerable drop in revenue from the Industrial & Infrastructure segment's mining and metals business line. Consolidated segment profit for Q1 2014 was $268.1 million, down 8.7% YoY. Oil and Gas segment profit rose 32.0% YoY. Net earnings attributable to Fluor for Q1 2014 were $149.1 million, or $0.92 per diluted share, compared to $166.5 million, or $1.02 per diluted share in Q1 2013. Analysts' polled by Thomson Reuters' expected EPS of $0.97. On the same day, Fluor Corporation's board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.21 per share on the company's common stock, payable July 2, 2014, to shareholders of record on June 3, 2014.
