Concurrent Technologies Corporation Wins $425 Million Competitively-Bid Contract to Operate the National Defense Center for Energy and Environment (NDCEE) for Another Five Years
JOHNSTOWN, Pa., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., President & CEO of Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) today announced that CTC has been awarded a contract to continue operating the National Defense Center for Energy and Environment (NDCEE), formerly known as the National Defense Center for Environmental Excellence. This is a five year contract with a $425 million ceiling. The NDCEE was established with the directive to serve as a national leadership organization to address high-priority environmental, sustainability, energy, safety, and occupational health requirements for the Department of Defense (DoD), other federal government organizations, and the industrial community. CTC has been operating the NDCEE since 1991. The DoD Executive Agent for the NDCEE is the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations and Environment.
Mr. Sheehan stated, "The work that we have accomplished through the program has made major impacts throughout the nation. We look forward to developing and deploying proven, affordable, mission-driven solutions that will be used throughout military, government, and industry. Our focus is to provide rapid access to the latest technology developments critical to national interests."
CTC was selected as the winner of this contract under full and open competition. CTC's winning team consists of internationally renowned firms that complement CTC's offerings. Major team members include APT Research, Battelle Memorial Institute, Booz Allen Hamilton, Navarro Research and Engineering, Northrop Grumman, Shaw Environmental, Southwest Research Institute, Tetra Tech, and URS along with several other small and large business subcontractors. According to Fred Mulkey, CTC Mission Solutions General Manager, "CTC is honored to continue as the operator of the NDCEE. The CTC Team brings significant technology research, development and implementation experience supporting a broad spectrum of Warfighter needs."
New policy directives such as Executive Order 13514, Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance, require federal agency leadership in all areas of sustainability. The NDCEE plays a vital role, leveraging CTC's diverse project experience, technical expertise, and established client, industry, and academic relationships to support the DoD and other government clients. CTC has been working hand-in-hand with DoD and the federal government for almost 20 years to reduce environmental impacts and conserve natural resources. With the increased focus on power and energy resources and alternatives, CTC supports the development, demonstration, and transition of technologies that minimize energy consumption, optimize the use of renewable energy sources, and enhance energy security and sustainability. CTC also provides support through the NDCEE to two key DoD readiness programs targeted at enhancing warfighter well-being and the health and safety of military workplaces: initiatives supporting the Defense Safety Oversight Council (DSOC) and the DoD's Voluntary Protection Programs Center of Excellence (VPP CX).
