Compassionate Care Center of New York Announces Charitable Program to Ensure Affordable Access for all NYS Medical Marijuana Patients
Program to Follow the Guidelines Set Forth by New York's Medicaid Expansion under ObamaCare
CARLE PLACE, N.Y., July 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Compassionate Care Center of New York™ (CCCNY™), also known as Tikun Olam in New York, a leading privately-held New York-based biopharmaceutical company applying to become one of five Registered Organizations operating under New York State's Medical Marijuana Program, has announced the formation of a charitable program that will follow the guidelines set forth by New York's Medicaid expansion under ObamaCare. This program, subject to its approval by the Commissioner of Health, will direct a portion of CCCNY's proceeds to pay for out-of-pocket expenses of qualifying Medical Marijuana patients living within 139% of the Federal Poverty Level ("FPL"). This program will also offer cost-sharing subsidies, on a sliding scale, to patients with incomes ranging between 139%-400% of the FPL. For more information, please write to [email protected].
"Currently, health insurance companies do not cover the cost of medical cannabis, which is why a charitable program such as this is so essential until insurance companies and the federal government decide to step up," said CCCNY Board Member, Reverend Jacques DeGraff. "Registered Organizations are not permitted to give away free or discounted product to lower income families, and there is currently no state program to account for indigent care, so we at CCCNY take it as our duty to make sure our life-saving medications are available to all New Yorkers in need."
To ensure that CCCNY is the first Registered Organization in New York State to have pharmaceutical-grade products available to qualifying patients, it has leased a currently operating 10 acre heated glass indoor greenhouse and manufacturing facility in Newark, NY, and will have its exclusively-licensed high CBD strains Haleigh's Hope™, Avidekel®, Rafael® and Midnight® in the ground by August. For more information about CCCNY's cultivation facility, please visit www.newarkgreenhouse.com.
