NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio, April 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CommutAir today announced that it will relocate its Flight Attendant Training Facility to the Albany International Airport for its 2016 classes. This move was prompted by the need to hire 20 additional flight attendants each month, and up to 300 over the next two years, to support the recently announced addition of 40 Embraer E145 jet airplanes to the company's existing fleet of Bombardier turbo-prop aircraft. The first training class is scheduled for later this month.

CommutAir's new flight attendants will undergo two weeks of training at the Albany International Airport facility. Recurrent training will also take place in Albany. Flight attendants will be lodged at hotels in the region bringing additional benefits to the local economy. Today's announcement follows the August, 2016 opening of the new CommutAir maintenance hangar at Albany International Airport. The hangar was constructed with funding provided through Governor Andrew Cuomo's Regional Economic Development Council Grant Program which is designed to create new jobs through infrastructure projects in New York State. CommutAir has begun hiring aircraft maintenance workers and has launched its maintenance training program, in Albany, which is expected to create up to 100 additional well-paying jobs in the Capital Region with the arrival of 40 additional Embraer jet aircraft.
CommutAir is also rapidly hiring pilots during this expansion. The Company recently ratified an industry leading labor agreement with its pilots and also established a Career Path Program (CPP) with United Airlines which serves as a career springboard for pilots interested in moving from a regional to a major airline, subject to meeting all requirements of the CPP.
