WALDORF, Md., July 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective October 18, 2013, Community Bank of Tri-County will become Community Bank of the Chesapeake. This new name reflects the bank's recent expansion into the Northern Neck of Virginia. The name of the holding company will change from Tri-County Financial Corporation to The Community Financial Corporation, to better align the bank name with the parent company of the bank.

"We knew when we opened our branch in King George that we were going to need to update the geographic reference in our name to encompass our entire footprint," said Michael Middleton, Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank of Tri-County. The bank will be officially known as Community Bank of the Chesapeake beginning on October 18. Signs will begin to be updated once the new name is effective and should be completed prior to the end of the year.
"While we are updating our name to reflect our growth into Virginia, everything else about our bank remains the same," said Bill Pasenelli, President of Community Bank of Tri-County. "The ideals that the bank was founded on, over 60 years ago, remain the same as does our commitment to the communities we serve. At Community Bank we still believe in exceeding the expectations of our customers and remain dedicated to this mission."
