Community Bank of Tri-County Supports the Calvert Marine Museum's Coming of Age Capital Campaign
WALDORF, Md., March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Bank of Tri-County is proud to announce its support of the Calvert Marine Museum's Coming of Age Capital Campaign. Through its sponsorship, Community Bank of Tri-County will help the Marine Museum to expand and renovate its exhibit building in order to meet the growing needs of the community.
"We are pleased to support the Calvert Marine Museum, an organization that celebrates the history and culture of Southern Maryland," said Bill Pasenelli, President and Chief Financial Officer of Community Bank of Tri-County. "Our support of the Coming of Age Capital Campaign reflects our commitment to give back to the communities where we work and live. We look forward to the completion of the expansion project and the additional resources the museum will be able to provide to our community."
Founded in 1970, the Calvert Marine Museum currently has 2,700 members, 250 active volunteers and approximately 70,000 visitors each year. The museum's primary focuses are the maritime history of Southern Maryland, the paleontology of Calvert Cliffs and the estuarine life of the tidal Patuxent River and the adjacent Chesapeake Bay. The Marine Museum also facilitates educational programs, fieldtrips, summer camps and a variety of other extra curricular activities.
"The support from local individuals and businesses like Community Bank of Tri-County is not only important in building the foundation of our campaign, but it also demonstrates our community's belief in the project and will help leverage the additional $1.25 million needed in state and county funding. With every day, and every new donation, we move closer to bringing to life this vision of more space and flexibility to educate and accommodate the community. The renovation will triple the useable space available for education and give us the ability to offer immersive environmental education, summer science centers, internships for students, and teacher professional development," said Doug Alves, Director of the Calvert Marine Museum.
Community Bank of Tri-County is the oldest independent financial institution headquartered in Southern Maryland with ten branches and over $900 million in assets. Community Bank of Tri-County branches are conveniently located throughout Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary's counties, in Maryland and will be opening an eleventh branch in King George, Virginia in 2012.
