More Than 4,000 New England Volunteers Join More Than 55,000 Nationwide on Ninth Annual Comcast Cares Day
BOSTON, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the ninth annual Comcast Cares Day, one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts in the country, local Comcast employees and their family members and friends will volunteer at dozens of community sites across New England this Saturday, providing spring cleaning, painting, landscaping and other services to local cities and towns and nonprofit organizations.
In all, more than 4,000 Comcast Cares Day volunteers will spend the day working at more than 50 sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, continuing Comcast's tradition of powering dreams in the communities it serves.
"I look forward to volunteering and being a part of Comcast Cares Day each year," said Kevin Casey, President of Comcast's NorthCentral Division, which includes New England. "It is a powerful experience to roll up my sleeves along with thousands of our employees as they dedicate their Saturday to help neighbors and their communities. We are honored to do our part to help each other during these challenging times."
Nationwide, more than 55,000 Comcast volunteers will participate in Comcast Cares Day, the company's annual day of service and one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts in the country. Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast demonstrates its year-round commitment to making a difference in the communities where its employees and customers live and work. The company also provides complimentary cable TV and high-speed Internet services to schools and libraries in the communities it serves and is a strong supporter of local nonprofits.
Since the first Comcast Cares Day in 2001, more than 225,000 Comcast volunteers have contributed over one million hours of service at more than 1,750 project sites in local communities throughout the country. This Saturday, volunteers are expected to donate another 300,000 hours of service, bringing the total service hours during all Comcast Cares Days to more than 1.6 million.
The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.
