COMBOS® Baked Snacks & Boston Red Sox Great Fred Lynn Team Up for "First Pitch" Charity Challenge
$5,000 on the Line during Ceremonial "First Pitch" of August 2 Game
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The pressure to throw a ceremonial "first pitch" just went up a level. Mars Chocolate North America announced today that its COMBOS® Baked Snacks brand and Boston Red Sox great Fred Lynn have teamed up for a special charity challenge around the ceremonial first pitch during the August 2 game at Fenway Park.
COMBOS®, a proud sponsor of the Boston Red Sox, will send Timothy LeBel, vice president of sales, Mars Chocolate North America, to the pitching mound prior to the start of the August 2 game to throw a ceremonial first pitch worth $5,000 to one lucky charity. If LeBel throws a strike, $5,000 will be donated to Lawrence Boys Club. If a called ball crosses the plate, $5,000 will be donated to Fred Lynn's charity, the FACE Foundation.
"It's an honor to throw a ceremonial first pitch at legendary Fenway Park," said LeBel. "But to be able to do so and support a very worthy charity at the same time is really special. I'm personally a huge Red Sox fan, and I'm thrilled that COMBOS® is able to use its team sponsorship for this great cause."
Fred Lynn, a former MVP and nine-time All-Star, is known for his charitable contributions over the years. "When COMBOS® approached me about this opportunity, I couldn't say no," said Lynn. "I was in high pressure situations throughout my baseball career, so it's fun to put the pressure on a fan to help raise money for charity."
