YOKNEAM, Israel, Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ColorChip, a global leader in photonic integrated transceivers, will be presenting a family of next generation PAM4 optical interconnects ranging from 100G to 400G at the 2018 Open Compute Project (OCP) Regional Summit in Amsterdam, Netherlands, spearheading the industry to support the vast growth in mega datacenter traffic.
Total worldwide data is expected to increase to 163 ZB by 2025, 10 times that of today. Rapidly increasing data loads are driving datacenters to adopt technology that enables to cost-effectively transmit more bandwidth than ever, through existing optical fiber deployments. ColorChip's PAM4-based 200G and 400G optical interconnects, expected to be commercially available by the end of the year, offer high-speed and energy-efficient solutions that are robust by design and production ready.
Based on proprietary SystemOnGlass™ technology, ColorChip's multi-generational optical engine platform has been refined over several generations of transceivers and can truly cater to the pressing challenges of massive data flows worldwide. "Leveraging our ground-breaking uncooled and power efficient EML-based optical engines, ColorChip will soon introduce 400G transceivers with power levels as low as 7W," commented Eli Arad, ColorChip's VP R&D. "This is a true breakthrough as it will translate into millions of dollars in savings for our customers."
