WESTMINSTER, Colo., March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Colorado Preparatory Academy (CPA), a tuition-free, online public school serving students in grades K-12, is welcoming families to enroll for the 2016-2017 school year. Open to all students who reside in Colorado, CPA offers online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of state-licensed teachers to cultivate an individualized education for each student.
"At Colorado Preparatory Academy, our goal is to maximize each student's learning potential to create an environment where every student is prepared for college and the workforce," said Nicole Tiley, head of school at Colorado Preparatory Academy. "In close partnership with parents, we want our students to excel and grow with coursework and instruction that addresses the strengths and weaknesses of each student."
CPA is authorized by the Colorado Digital Board of Cooperative Education Services (CD BOCES) through an innovative collaboration between Falcon School District 49 and Yuma School District. The school specializes in programs designed specifically for advanced learners using the award-winning curriculum from K¹², the nation's leading online K–12 curriculum provider.
The online curriculum is rigorous and engaging, including courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as over 150 elective and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students. College- or career-minded students can choose from a broad range of profession-focused courses in order to gain a competitive edge for the future, discover their path after high school or explore a possible college major. Colorado Preparatory Academy also gives students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.
Courses are delivered online with the support of a state-certified teacher and students receive a diploma at graduation. In 2015, CPA graduates headed to colleges such as Colorado University, Colorado Mesa University, School of Mines Rapid City and Regis University.
"I am so happy that I found online school," says Ashyln Cooney, a student at CPA. "The classes are challenging and are really preparing me for college and the workforce."
During the enrollment period CPA will be conducting online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. Interested families are encouraged to attend to meet teachers, staff and other families and to learn more about the award-winning online curriculum provided by K12.
