CME Group Announces Henry Hub Natural Gas Futures All-Time Daily Volume Record, Surpassing 1.2 Million Contracts
CHICAGO, Nov. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced it reached a daily trading volume record of 1,232,635 contracts for Henry Hub Natural Gas futures on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, surpassing the previous record of 1,022,858 contracts set on Jan. 12, 2018. Additional energy futures and options volume records reached yesterday include:
- Record 994,030 energy options contracts, surpassing the previous record of 732,462 contracts set on Mar. 9, 2017
- Record 794,990 electronic energy options contracts, surpassing the previous record of 554,818 contracts traded on Mar. 9, 2017
- Record 693,975 WTI Light Sweet Crude Oil options contracts, surpassing the previous record of 579,935 contracts on Nov. 30, 2016
Additionally, energy futures and options traded a combined 5,067,202 contracts yesterday, including nearly 2.1 million WTI Light Sweet Crude Oil futures contracts. The current record of 5,067,833 combined energy futures and options contracts traded was set on Dec. 1, 2016.
