Cloud9 IDE to Support Faster Deployment to Windows Azure
Developers Can Deploy Across Microsoft-managed Data Centers in Seconds
SAN FRANCISCO, June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloud9 IDE (http://c9.io), a leading cloud-based Integrated Development Environment (IDE), today announced its continued support of Windows Azure. Cloud9 IDE, which enables web and mobile developers to work together online, now adds deployment to the latest version of Windows Azure directly from within the IDE. The announcement precedes an introduction of the cloud platform during the "MEET Windows Azure" event being held tomorrow in San Francisco.
Windows Azure (http://www.windowsazure.com) is an open and flexible cloud platform that enables users to quickly build, deploy and manage applications across a global network of Microsoft-managed data centers. Windows Azure was first made available to Cloud9 IDE users in January 2012. At the time, a typical from-scratch deployment took anywhere from eight to 10 minutes. Starting tomorrow, however, the one-click system of this latest version has made it possible for deployment to happen within seconds.
"Windows Azure is committed to supporting open source and to helping developers create cloud applications that are more reliable and scalable and require less administration," said Helene Love Snell, director of Marketing, Microsoft Server and Tools Business. "Working with platforms such as Cloud9 IDE, we are delighted to extend this commitment to new communities of developers."
Cloud9 IDE users have access to essential Windows Azure options including the ability to specify:
- Number of compute instances
- Operating system
- Data center location
- Whether to deploy to staging or production, and
- VM configuration with CPU and RAM options
"We're excited to bring this new version of Windows Azure to the over 100K developers who are currently using Cloud9 IDE," said Ruben Daniels, CEO and founder of Cloud9 IDE. "Windows Azure is demonstrating support for open source and interoperability, and now developers will reap the rewards like never before."
The Windows Azure collaboration marks a significant milestone as Cloud9 IDE continues to revolutionize the landscape of modern-day programming. Through Cloud9 IDE, developers now have the ability to take full advantage of Windows Azure from other platforms, in addition to Microsoft technologies.
