After the Clinique Fresh Faces Tour traveled to college campuses and received thousands of applications online, a panel of Clinique and Teen Vogue experts selected 25 semi-finalists and America voted for the top five finalists. These young women were flown to New York City for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, given behind-the-scenes access to key executives from Clinique and Teen Vogue. They also received VIP treatment with a photo shoot that will appear in the April issue of Teen Vogue. A panel of judges interviewed each young woman about their accomplishments and career aspirations to select the next Clinique Fresh Face.
"I had the opportunity to meet all five young women, and each of them is very remarkable in their own, unique way," says Lynne Greene, Brand President of Clinique, Origins and Ojon. "It was a tough decision as they are all confident, young women who have a great outlook on life. There is no doubt in my mind that all of them will become very successful in whatever path they choose."
Ms. Schoonmaker's passion lies in women's empowerment as she spent a year volunteering at the YWCA of Boulder County, a non-profit that provides services to women and children. She created a curriculum to educate young girls on positive body image while also researching how media impacts perception. While supporting herself through college, she interned at three magazines while also working in the CU-Boulder Communications department. Prior to attending the University, her greatest achievement was being selected as one of 50 high school seniors to join the Presidents Leadership Class, an organization at the University of Colorado - Boulder whose mission is to develop extraordinary leaders in the community. Ms. Schoonmaker's hard work and dedication is a true inspiration to young women everywhere.
During the tour, each campus hosted a panel of industry experts who provided insider tips and shared personal stories about their career paths. Also, a team of beauty experts on-site advised participants on the best way to care for their skin and wear makeup that enhanced their natural beauty.
"Fresh Faces is always one of the highlights of my year," says Eva Chen, Beauty and Health Director of Teen Vogue. "During this tour I had the opportunity to travel to many of the campuses and sit on the panel discussions. Meeting so many of these young women was truly rewarding. They would ask for advice on how to apply for jobs and tell me about all their accomplishments and ambitions. I'm really impressed with how career-focused these young women are, and they have the most exciting years of their life ahead of them to follow their passion."
The other five finalists included Kate Erickson from the University of Colorado – Boulder, Sara Ferguson from Princeton University and Jina Lim from Columbia University, each given the opportunity to meet with Clinique and Teen Vogue executives.
