Clean Earth Opens the First Permitted Facility Capable of Beneficially Reusing Marcellus Shale Drill Cuttings
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., Dec. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Clean Earth, Inc. announced today the grand opening of their new facility, Clean Earth of Williamsport, LLC, (CEW) located in Williamsport, PA. Clean Earth of Williamsport is a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection permitted Research & Development facility accepting drill cuttings from gas exploration and well installation. Clean Earth of Williamsport will serve the Marcellus shale drill cuttings market exclusively with turnkey drill cutting stabilization and beneficial reuse services for all drill cuttings derived from well sites.
Chris Dods, President & CEO states, "The future is exciting for us. This facility's treatment capabilities and beneficial reuse will be the first of its kind, and will allow the drillers to manage their drill cuttings in an environmentally safe and sustainable manner."
The Clean Earth proven stabilization method that will be utilized at the Clean Earth of Williamsport facility will provide drilling and gas companies the option to beneficially reuse all drill cuttings derived from well sites. Once drill cuttings complete the stabilization process at the facility, the material will be beneficially reused for reclamation of PA Act II sites versus the current disposal option at local landfills.
"Our turnkey service simplifies the drilling process for the drillers, and at the end we have a geotechnical acceptable material that can be compacted for fill for construction purposes rather than going into a landfill," states Michael Goebner, Senior Vice President – Facilities.
