Bethenny Frankel, Tory Burch, Gail Simmons & Paula Zahn Will Be On Hand at Annual Benefit that Raises Funds to Provide Meals for New York's Homebound Elderly
NEW YORK, Nov. 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 350 women -- leaders of industry, media, government, and the arts -- will gather at the Citymeals-on-Wheels 24th annual "Power Lunch for Women" at The Pierre on Friday, November 12, 2010. This by-invitation-only benefit, emceed by Juju Chang, "Good Morning America" news anchor, is expected to raise over $1 million, or enough to provide more than 156,000 meals for New York's frail homebound aged.
Honored for their long-standing commitment to Citymeals will be Diana Taylor, Managing Director of Wolfensohn & Company and actor Kathleen Turner. Sandra Lee will attend. Celebrities expected to attend include NY Times best-selling author and television personality Bethenny Frankel, fashion designer Tory Burch, Special Projects Director, Food & Wine Magazine, Host Top Chef: Just Desserts Gail Simmons and veteran news reporter Paula Zahn, among many others.
"Each year, hundreds of America's most powerful women gather at the Citymeals' Power Lunch in an extraordinary show of compassion and support for New York City's most isolated and vulnerable citizens," said Marcia Stein, executive director of Citymeals-on-Wheels. "Key among our staunchest champions are this year's honorees Diana Taylor and Kathleen Turner whose generosity and commitment are inspirational and incalculable."
Since its founding in 1981, Citymeals has provided more than 42.4 million meals to New York's homebound aged. Most meal recipients, whose average age is 82, have outlived family and friends. For some, the meal deliverers are the only people they see all day. One hundred percent of every dollar received from the public and from events like Power Lunch, goes to the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals to homebound elderly in the five boroughs of New York City.
The Grand Host of this year's Power Lunch is The Pierre A Taj Hotel. The Associate Sponsors are Amherst Securities Group LLC, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Travelers. The Very Grand Patrons are Absolut Vodka, Bedell Cellars, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Citi, Nespresso North America, and Christian Dior, Inc.
