"City officials join artists for opening ceremonies of CRAFTED AT THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES, the nation's largest indoor crafts marketplace"
LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This Friday, June 29th, city officials, scores of artists, and the local Boys & Girls Club summer camp, will gather in San Pedro to celebrate the opening of the nation's largest indoor crafts market. A ribbon cutting will take place Friday morning with Co-Founder and powerhouse behind Bergamot Station, Wayne Blank and his team Alison Zeno and Howard Robinson. The CRAFTED team will be joined by city officials and dignitaries including Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Matt Karatz, Los Angeles City Council Member Joe Buscaino, and Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Dr. Geraldine Knatz.
The Grand Opening of CRAFTED AT THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES, themed Handmade in America, will be marked by weekend-long festivities including craft demonstrations, art installations, craft tables, raffles and giveaways, a creation station and even pony rides for the little ones. Food will be provided by LA's best food trucks including Nom Nom Truck, Crepe'n Around, Slammin' Sliders, and Auntie's Fry Bread, just to name a few. Live music for the weekend will be provided by Alicia Murphy and a special performance by The Lonely Wild accompanied by the Silverlake Contemporary Ballet. There will also be a Craft Beer Tasting with beer provided by the San Pedro Brewing Co., hosted by owner James Brown. Bring the kids, bring your mother, your brother, your sisters and cousins, CRAFTED is going to be a family affair.
CRAFTED will sparkle as the crown jewel in Southern California's emerging Handmade Movement. The transformation of two World War II era warehouses by Bergamot Station's Wayne Blank and his team, is set adjacent to a picturesque marina and just steps away from the ocean, it will grow to be the nations largest indoor year-round craft marketplace located at the LA Waterfront. In our first phase, artisanal food makers stand side by side with designers and craft-artists to create a bustling intersection of art and commerce.
